I've written an ekphrastic poem based on the works of Goya and Picasso addressing the devastation and impact of war on the innocent. While I am not a native Californian (I'm a Tejano) a major part of my interest and inspiration to write stems from my childhood experiences as a farmworker in California (part of my family remains and is still living in California) as well my readings on the history and legacy of Mexican-Americans in California. So, I'm not sure if this qualifies me. If you think I do, let me know and I will be honored to submit.
